Great interview! However there was an elephant in the room:

While discussing the case, Steve Mera mentioned that the Catholic Church contacted him and insisted that he withhold some information because, he inferred, it conflicted with Church doctrine on the afterlife (he says this at the 10:45 mark in the intervierw). I was surprised Seriah didn't press him on this. If there's one institution that should be banned from covering up ANYTHING -- ever again -- it's the Catholic Church.

I, for one, would be fascinated to know what he discovered during this investigation about the afterlife that the Church didn't want him talking about.

Any thoughts?

I noticed that when he said it, but I felt like it made enough sense the way it was, I thought pressing on it would be redundant. The way I took it, at least, was that proof of ghosts or other similar activities, or things like reincarnation, would undermine the Church's stance that when you die you either go to heaven or hell. Ghosts and such do not fit into that world view. However, when I have Steve back on, perhaps I should ask him to clarify and make sure that that was it.

You may be right that it is indeed information about ghosts or reincarnation they don't want out, however the entire book is about ghosts, right?... So maybe there's something more, something juicier they want to keep from the public.

Sorry to keep on about this, but when he said that he was getting pressure from the Catholic Church not to write certain things, my hackles went up. The days of keeping secrets to maintain power by such a publicly discredited and serially corrupt institution are over.
